Dancing in New Zealand

Throughout the Region, from Hamilton in the West to Opotiki in the East, Scots and Non-Scots alike enjoy dancing to the exhilarating sound of:

fast-moving reels
slower-paced strathspeys.

Friendship                 Fun                 Fitness

Our clubs cater for dancers of all levels of ability, but beginners are particularly welcome and will quickly learn the basics at one of our classes. One of the appeals of Scottish Country Dancing is that you do not need to come to a class with a partner. Of course, you may well bring a spouse or friend, but you will probably find yourself dancing with a more experienced dancer most of the time – this is a great way to learn.
You do not need any special clothing either (and you certainly do not have to wear a kilt!), but it is a good idea to bring some soft, flat shoes.

There is one near you where you can be sure of a really warm welcome.
So come along and try Scottish Country Dancing for yourself
